The Final Countdown

Here it is, the official 1st edition packaging  for Siege Pong. The upgrades from the prototype include a slightly new blueprint which made for much easier and cleaner construction. We utilized the wasted space in the triangular parts for storage by letting the entire right and left sides fold down. The interior flaps also include instructions and the rest of the interior walls got a fresh coat of paint. The cards still use the drawer but are  no longer needed to be held in by magnets so we got rid of them. The entire folding flap will be held closed by magnets, it's just not quite there yet though, we ran into some difficulties regarding magnetic strength but our designers are hard at work coming up with new solutions. We also printed all new instructions which help to better explain the directions.

Long Overdue

It's a good thing blogs don't charge late fee's because this post is definitely overdue. Here are some photo's of the prototype packaging for Siege Pong. Both launchers fit in the main interior compartment (but are accessed from opposite sides) which is held closed by magnets. The cards, also held in by magnets have their own little drawers adjacent to the main compartment.

putting the toys away

So we have been working on some designs for the packaging of Siege Pong. One idea was encapsulating all the parts in a large ping-pong ball-esque sphere. Another idea was just a simple sliding box which would be able to be reconfigured into a target for shooting practice. Brendon has our third design on his blog, it's a bit larger but also features a target for practice.

...let the great experiment begin!

So on Friday morning Siege Pong got down and dirty for the first time. It seemed to go pretty well and as expected we'll definitely have to make some revisions. Here are some of the suggestions our test subjects had to offer. The first and foremost was that the cards were hard to build with. We realized this when we were taking photos for the storyboard. We've been brainstorming some ideas to fix that, making the cards a bit heavier seems to be the most logical solution. We might double them up or glue them onto something more substantial. The next thing that needed to be addressed was the level of clarity in the instructions. They seemed to be pretty well received but they don't have any text. With a few well placed letters I think that the object of the game will be much easier and quicker to grasp.

The Stuff

Well here are the launchers and cards for Siege Pong; the only other elements that would be there but are not pictured are the ping pong balls and the packaging. But other than that this is all you need to play.

Oh yeah

I just noticed that my new font isn't up. I was 99.374$#2&@ percent sure that I published it. I guess I just learned my lesson about viewing my  blog after I publish but either way here it is. Oh yeah I'm also putting up what is going to printed on the back of our cards.

We've got the ball rolling...

or flying for that matter; yeah we're talking straight WMD'z, that is if you live in a card castle. Brendon and I got down to the shop and assembled some heavy artillery. These will be the primary weapons of Siege Pong. They haven't been painted yet but I think this picture will give you an idea. I have a video of one firing that I'll post at the bottom.
